Information Technology – IT

Day-to-day operations at Kent use the latest information technology.

PC Platform

Our PC platform consists of IBM branded PCs and Compaq Laptops running Windows XP with the MS Office Suite of products and Exchange/Outlook Mail Client.

All offices are interconnected over a frame relay network that supports the Exchange Email Network, Intranet and Kent’s Removals database.

IT Staff

Kent’s three full-time staff members have a wealth of IT experience with major corporates such as BHP Billiton and the Commonwealth Bank.

Client/Server Database

Our Removal 2000 System is a Client/Server database developed in a product called Progress Provision™, which manages day-to-day functions. Kent continues to enjoy competitive advantage in the area of removals IT through the development and support of this product.

Security and Backup

Our infrastructure offers protection across Kent’s national IT facilities. Incremental back-ups are performed each night and the tapes stored offsite. Our main servers, based in Melbourne, send a complete backup to our Sydney node every 24 hours, which provides built-in redundancy.

In addition a paper backup of critical information associated with operations, storage files and other relevant data is secured in a fireproof safe.

PDA

As an industry first in Australia, Kent introduced "Palm Pilot" inventory recording at the point of "household survey", ensuring greater accuracy, a more streamlined process and absolute transparency within the sale process.

ISO 9001:2008 Accreditation

Kent is certified as compliant with the ISO Quality System Standard – ISO 9001:2008. Continuous improvement programmes to further enhance our service levels are an important component of Kent's culture.

FAIM

Kent International Movers (Melbourne) achieved an industry first when it successfully achieved FAIM/ISO accreditation in May 1999. The FAIM/ISO quality program, audited by Ernst & Young, is the world’s highest quality assurance standard for the international moving industry.
